1 month old

We have been having lots of exhausting fun with our two boys. Carter reached one month old today which is just so bizzare to me, especially since I wasn't due for another week and a half. He is a very easy-going baby, much like Deacon was. Deacon has been such a great big brother, he absolutely LOVES his little brother. In fact, the other day he told him "i love you" without any prompting from us. Though it sounds more like "iwooo", we know what it means. He loves to give him kisses and if Carter make any tiny sound he runs over to comfort him with a kiss. There are a few moments of jealousy, but for the most part it's been smooth sailing and I can't wait to watch these two boys grow up and play together. Lastly is a photo of Deacon at about 1 month. He was definitely chubbier and more alert, but you can definitely tell these two are brothers.

Carter's Hospital Photos

We had these done with Deacon, as well. They have a service in the hospital where they bring in photographers to take the babies photos. It's nice cause you get really nice pictures while they are still brand new. Though, with Carter in the NICU he was almost two weeks...but that's ok he's still negative 4 weeks as far as I'm concerned.

A few comparisons

Deacon vs. Carter can you tell which is which?

Carter

After 11 days in the NICU Carter was finally able to come home! It is a relief to not be going back and forth from the hospital all the time, but it sure has been an adjustment since we've come home. Especially adjusting to somewhat sleepless night. The first night he was home I hardly slept because I was so nervous about his breathing and whether or not he was warm enough and wanting to make sure he ate enough. However, after going to visit his pediatrician on Friday he made me feel better about Carter's eating. One thing that drives me crazy with nursing my babies is that I can never tell how much they are eating. I guess I just need to relax and know that when they're done, they stop eating (unlike most of us adults). He's been doing really well at home, though. We are not having any visitor's for at least the first two weeks while he is home and we have been told not to take him out in public for three months. Deacon has also adjusted well to his baby brother. Every time Carter makes a noise Deacon giggles and giggles. He tries to give Carter his binky (Carter isn't nearly as in to his binky as Deacon was, at least not yet). He likes to pet Carter's head and we have to watch him or he'd probably try to pick him up as well. There have been a few moments of jealousy on Deacon's part and Deacon is in his terrible two stage, but for the most part it's been going pretty well. Here are some photos of the last few days. Our relief society president brought Deacon a present when she brought us dinner-his present included flip flops. Once he got them on he didn't want to take them off and walked around in his diaper and flip flops half the night.
