Happy Birthday to Deacon!

We had Deacon's party on Saturday, the day after his birthday, mostly because we wanted people to come and we know he won't know the difference. Rachel made an awesome Dinosaur cake but Deacon wanted nothing to do with all of the undivided attention. Hopefully he'll have more fun with the cake next year. And note to self-I need to let my kids play with their food more so that they won't be so bashful about getting their hands all gooey.

Deacon is one!

Deacon turned one today! We are having his party tomorrow so I'll be putting pictures from that in a different post.One of Deacon's birthday presents is that he has a new cousin! Not planned at all, but Angi had her baby right on Deacon's birthday! We are so excited that he has a new cousin nearby to play with and grow up with. Here are some things about Deacon:
He likes to play with anything that rolls or bounces, and laughs hysterically at anything bouncy.
He is mesmerized (lately) by baby signing time.
He made his first sign the other day "all done" when he was done eating.
Strangers comment on his blue eyes and supposedly red hair.
His "red" hair doesn't look all that red to me, but whatever.
He tries really hard to mimic the sounds that we make, but when he gets tired of the game, all he will say is "baba".
He is getting closer to walking every day!
He has eight teeth (HUGE chompers :) )
He sucks on his binky upside down or sideways, but almost never right side up. In fact, if we put it in right side up, he'll turn it around. He can even turn it around and around in his mouth without touching it...think exorcist binky, ha ha.
He LOVES splashing in the bathtub. James or I, whoever is giving him a bath, usually ends up soaked on one side.
He really enjoyed his first time in the pool, splashing and laughing hysterically, but yesterday the water was toooooo cold and he was NOT having it.
In the evenings he babbles and babbles like he has to fill a word quota for the day.
We sure love our little guy! We think he is so stinkin' cute and he has been so much fun!

Angi's baby shower

We had Angi's baby shower this last weekend, put on by the Patterson clan. Meredith made tons of yummy cupcakes, I made a huge diaper cake, we made scrapbook pages for her (that was our activity), Angi got lots of cute stuff for baby Braden and it was a GORGEOUS day. The theme was jungle and we were all very happy with the turn-out.
