Cedar City

This last weekend we had the opportunity to visit James' sister Emilee and her husband down in Cedar City. We had a lot of fun spending time with them, going to a pumpkin patch (not a very good one) and taking photos as usual. On our way back from the Pumpkin patch in Paragonah we saw these gorgeous golden trees that I had to get some photos of. Love the changing colors of fall.

Bathroom Redo Part 2

So this was the bathroom after the floor, tub/surround, and toilet were put in. Now all that's left is to redo the sink, paint the cupboards, and walls, and put in a few new accessories.

Bathroom Redo Part 1

Our bathroom is disgusting. It has been since the day we moved in. There's a mold problem, there's carpet in the vanity area and it's just gross. Note to new buyers of home, pay attention to the bathrooms. Serious attention. Cause I didn't. Anyway, we finally contracted to get the bathtub replaced, the walls redone, and a tub/shower surround done. They are also redoing our floors and putting in a new toilet. But we also wanted to get the wall taken out that separates the tub/shower/toilet area from the vanity area. So when we contracted with this first company and asked if they could do that, their sales guy recommended we get someone else to do that. He seemed to think they would do a shotty job with electric and walls and what-not. At least he was honest, right? So James' cousin Laura's husband Steve (7 steps from Kevin Bacon, anyone?) does his own contracting work. In fact, he basically built their entire house which is gorgeous. So if you need work done on your house, let us know, we'll get you in touch with Steve. So anyway, Steve came over yesterday and took out our wall, put the light by the toilet above the shower and redid the electric so that both lights turn on with the same switch and moved the outlet over to where he had taken out the wall. He still need to finish our walls but it's basically done otherwise. We get the tub/surround/toilet/floor done on Thursday and Friday of this week. I'm pretty excited. It's been a long time coming. Then all that's left will be for me to paint. I'm thinking a light teal/turqoise-y color. we'll see. Here's some before and after shots. You can see the mold is pretty bad in the shower and the wall next to the tub is squishy, which will all be redone by Friday. I still can't get over how huge the bathroom feels without that wall.

Lunch at the Bishop's Cabin

We recently had lunch with the bishopric at his cabin up Big Cottonwood Canyon. He has this big platter of peanuts that he leaves out for the birds and this is what we saw:
