Baby Patterson

Just a warning, this may be too much information for some. So quit reading now and scroll down to pictures if you don't want to know the whole birth story of our little guy :). About 6:30 Monday morning, my usual wake up time, I woke up to a gushing sensation...totally thought I had lost all control of my bladder. After a second gush I decided I better get up and go to the bathroom. So I did...took a shower...put on my makeup...did my hair...got half-way dressed...and had a third gush. At that point (7:00)I decided I had better go in to the hospital to figure out if I was totally incontinent or if my water had broken. So I did. And it had. About 9:00 I was admitted to labor and delivery and induced. I was totally fine until about 3:00 and then decided I needed an epidural. So they gave me one and I was progressing VERY SLOWLY. Remember, this is six weeks earlier then our little guy was supposed to come. Anyway, James left to go eat dinner and see Deacon who had been shuffled between various family members today (thanks to Kevin and Meredith and Pat and Doug). Shortly before 7 the nurse came to check me out and said I was ready to go. This always happens. I was at a five about a half hour before and then it was like BAM and I was ready to go. Except James needed to make it back. And the Doctor. She was also eating dinner. About 7:15 I REALLY needed to push. It was painful. Worse than contractions. I can't describe it. Anyway, the dr. who was supposed to deliver didn't make it in time. The nurses kept calling her but she was at home and there was no way she would make it to the hospital on time. Since it was a pre-term delivery, I had to deliver in the OR instead of the labor and delivery room, so that they could pass the baby straight through to the NICU without introducing any new germs. Kind of sucked cause I couldn't even hold him. He weighed in at 4 lbs 12 ozs and 19.25 inches long. Screamed his lungs out when he came out though which was a good sign. Doctors and nurses say he is doing great. He is on a CPAP machine to help finish developing his lungs and he has a few other monitors hooked up to him, some feeding tubes and such but otherwise he is doing well. No idea when we'll get to bring him home, but I will definitely be going home without him. Which sucks. Still haven't been able to hold him, except his little hand, he has been opening his eyes and looking around a lot. We haven't quite decided on a name but we've got it narrowed down to two names that both start with the letter C. So for now we are calling him baby Patterson or C. Kenneth Patterson and when we decide we'll let you know. Crazy day. So not what we had planned but I did just say on Friday that I really wish I could have this kid, and I guess I got my wish!

Easter

We had a nice Easter this year, with family in town and time to relax since it was between my Spring break and James' Spring break. Here are some photos of Deacon and his Easter basket. Our family picture is from Easter Sunday when all of our family was together (minus the Overdiek's) and Meredith took pictures of everyone. My bunny teeth are actually kind of like a ring pop with bunny teeth. Deacon thought they were a binky at first but once he figured out they weren't he wouldn't have anything to do with them.

Emilee's Graduation Photos and Annivery photos of the Barkers

Over Easter weekend, my sis-in-law Emilee and her husband Brent came up for a visit. Emilee had asked me to take some pictures for her Graduation photos (She graduates from SUU this year!) and since Emilee and Brent will be celebrating their 6th anniversary this year I took some photos of the couple as well since who knows when we will get together next! We went downtown to the new City Creek Center and once we got kicked out of there (you mean you need to have permission?) we went over to Temple Square and the Conference Center. Here are some favorites of mine from the shoot!

St. Patrick's Day and Spring Break

Deacon got his hair cut on St. Patrick's day. He was so cute I had to get some pictures. Also, my mom was in town visiting just this last weekend and we got some photos of that as well. Deacon had a lot of fun with his Grandma and we even got to go to Sunday morning's session of General Conference.
