Deacon walks and likes trucks

Our kid is a BOY. He likes trucks and balls and blocks. He doesn't much care for stuffed animals and things of that nature. He wants things that roll and that he can knock over and that make noise. This truck is his favorite because he can do all of those things. It makes noise, is big enough to knock over and he can push it around and around and around. While he's not walking completely yet, he will randomly stand up and start walking. Then he starts giggling. Then he falls over. And repeat. It's pretty entertaining.

September 11th memorial

Sandy City always has a healing field in rememberance of September 11th. This year they erected a monument in front of Sandy City hall. We went to the unveiling of that. It was hot. But cool to be there. In the healing field, each flag has a story of someone who died in the 9/11/01 attacks. There was also one balloon for each life lost that they released as well.

Labor Day Picnic

On Labor Day we had a picnic with the fam' in Murray Park. Just a few photos of the day.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

This last week, we got to go to a Salt Lake Bee's Minor League Baseball game. They're not all fantastic or anything, at least this season, but we still had fun. Our bishop got the young men's group a bunch of boxed seat tickets. Luckily, we only have about four young men that regularly show up at activities (luckily? maybe not, but for us this once at least). I don't know that Deacon was particularly interested in what was going on down on the field, but his interested in the bars that were keeping him in the spot sure made it look like it for these pics.

Summer Activities

Later in July, our ward always has a primary children's parade around the neighborhood. It is a huge undertaking (thanks to Mindy) but we had a really good turnout this year and even got the police escort. The kids loved it and we decked out Deacon's stroller for the walk around the 'hood. We also had a play date at one of the local parks that has these cool water features. Probably will be more fun for him next year. Then a few weekends ago we had our ward camp out which was SO MUCH FUN!!! After trying to hold a squirming one year old we finally gave him, cause God made dirt and dirt don't hurt, right? Well, good, cause he was covered in it pretty much the whole time we were out there. Anyway, Deacon did awesome and loved playing with the other little kids from the ward. They loved playing hide and seek under all the picnic tables. Finally, some photos from James' birthday.

First Haircut

Our kid was born with a mullet. So...we took Deacon to get his hair cut before we went to VA. He was such a good sport! He sat pretty still most of the time, just started getting wiggly when she took out the clippers he wanted to see what she was doing. Yay for no more mullet! You can kind of see the mullet in the middle photo.
